Netanyahu office meltdown as aides quit

articlemain

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Cabinet Office is in a state of disarray after the resignation of two of his top aides, with another expected to step down shortly.

Ha'artez reports that Mr Netanyahu rebuked the three after they took sexual harassment allegations about another colleague directly to the Attorney General. Cabinet Secretary Zvi Hauser has said he will resign in the coming days while National Information Directorate Head Yoaz Hendel and Military Secretary Yohanan Locker have already resigned.

Bureau chief Natan Eshel, the subject of the sexual harassment allegations, has also resigned. Eshel allegedly harassed an employee at the Prime Minister's Office, identified only as R.

Mr Netanyahu is said to have told the three: "I'm disappointed that you didn't share the information with me and that you hid this from me for a month… You should have come to me before."

The Prime Minister said this week that the situation in his office in the wake of the affair is "painful, difficult in terms of human relations, uncomfortable and unpleasant".
